How the previews work

Upload her photo, verify your email, and generate a watermarked preview in the style you picked. You get three free previews a day. The picture you approve is the one printed: it is kept as the print master, without its watermark, and never generated a second time.

Made by AI from your photo. You see a free watermarked preview before you pay, and nothing prints until you approve it.

  • FSC slim stretcher. Solid-wood stretcher, ~20mm depth; the sides carry a soft, blurred band taken from your picture's colours. Ready to hang.
  • Checked against the canvas before you pay. The locked portrait is measured against the size you have chosen, and a size the artwork cannot fill is refused rather than stretched. The picture itself is never regenerated: what you approved is what goes on the canvas.
  • UK delivery, 4–9 working days. Made-to-order, ships boxed and tracked. Free UK delivery.

Why a painted portrait suits canvas.

A painted style and a woven surface belong together. The picture reads as a piece of art the moment it goes up, and with no glass in front of it there is nothing to catch the light from a window or a lamp. That makes canvas a sensible choice for a cabin wall that faces a porthole. It also means the portrait looks the same at the end of a long afternoon as it does at breakfast.

Picking a size for the wall.

The four sizes run from 300x400mm up to 600x800mm. The smallest fits a gap beside a window or above the galley worktop. 400x500mm is the size to choose when the canvas is the only piece on its wall. The two larger sizes want a clear stretch of panelling, so hold a sheet of card of the right size against the wall and look at it from the doorway before you decide. On a boat the usable wall is often smaller than it seems.

What to send and what to check.

Choose a photograph with the boat well inside the frame. The sides of the canvas carry a soft blurred band taken from your picture's colours, so the boat does not need to run to the edge to look finished. A shot with water or sky on every side of her gives the painting room.

  • Pick a bright, even day over harsh midday sun.
  • Check the whole boat is visible, bow to stern.
  • Look hard at the preview before you lock it, because the locked version is the one printed.

If you want a frame round it, the framed poster is the neighbouring format, behind plexiglass at A3 or A2.

Questions before you go

Is the preview the final quality?

The on-screen preview is watermarked and lower-resolution. When you order, we use the exact selected artwork without its watermark for canvas.

How do I hang it?

Pre-fitted hanging point on the back: a single picture-hook holds it.

Returns?

Made-to-order from your photo, so no change-of-mind returns. Arrives damaged? We'll replace it: see our returns page.
